Le directeur de la photo Philippe Rousselot, AFC, ASC (Cinéma 1966), sera à l'honneur, lors de la 28e édition du Festival International Camerimage, qui se tiendra à Torun (Pologne) du 14 au 21 novembre 2020, et se verra remettre le "Camerimage Lifetime Achievement Award".
Cette reconnaissance est due à son travail photographique auprès de réalisateurs de renommée mondiale tels, entre autres, que Robert Redford, Tim Burton, Guy Ritchie, Stephen Frears, Patrice Chéreau, Neil Jordan, Shane Black, Miloš Forman, David Yates, Denzel Washington et Jean-Jacques Annaud.
Pendant ses études à l'École Louis-Lumière ("Vaugirard" à l'époque), il a souvent visité le Louvre afin d'admirer, et s'en imprégner, la manière dont les maîtres de la peinture utilisaient la lumière, les couleurs et les ombres pour créer l'impact visuel désiré.
During his studies at l'École Louis Lumière he often visited the Louvre to admire and absorb the way the masters of painting had used light, and color, and shadow to make a desired visual impact. When he graduated in 1966, together with future fellow cinematographers Eduardo Serra and Noël Very, Philippe Rousselot found himself under the protective wings of the famed cinematographer Néstor Almendros. He started as his assistant and loader, and then continued until becoming a camera operator. When the opportunity arose to graduate to the role of a cinematographer, he did not hesitate and debuted with Guy Giles’ Le Clair de terre.
